    Hmmm J160, Russ must be the model with round fuel gauges and not the glass sight window. I have the round fuel gauges, and they never seem correct, I have made dip sticks, to measure the wing tanks to be sure. My J160 is flown with two large chaps (90 + 110kg), gets close to MTOW, so the fuel level needs to be accurate to keep under MTOW. Filling both tanks and two average people will put the J160 over the MTOW.

    Crash in Ballarat Victoria near school. Yahoo news reports the plane as a " two-engine Cessna". The aircraft looks like a 2 seat ultalight similar to a Euofox with 24 Registration. Either the photo is incorrect or Ra-aus now allows registration of heavier aircraft. Or perhaps poor reporting.....

    Seems to be some confusion with the T.V stations. One claims it took off and had engine failure and managed to fly to a nearby paddock. The other claims the aircraft skidded off the end of the runway without getting airborne (and magically jumped fences without engine running). It would not hurt the T.V stations to at least briefly check story details. At least they did not call this a single seater, metal framed aircraft, a Jabiru like they did down Bairnsdale VIC earlier this year..... Also surprised it was not coated with the generic "Cessna" label too..

    Compulsion, Jabiru told me I could have it as a option, This is also available when ordering a new Jabiru. I ordered a single stick, my LAME has fitted it to my Jabiru. My Jabiru J160 is 24 registered. The Single stick gives the illusion of more space. Only possible negatives more difficult to hold stick while working the brakes while taxing around when windy. Also only space for one push to talk button, limitation if used for training. I bought the following items from Jabiru spares back in Aug 2011 and purchased what the LAME thought we would need. The prices are from last year and exclude GST Jabiru part numbers: Qty 1 x 310508N Tube handle pivot long $28.29 Qty 1 x CPM3A003N Foam grip $3.85 Qty 2 x 3000A94 Washer UHMWPE 1x3/8x1mm $3.41 for two Qty 1 x 3000C84 Spacer control pivot $5.30 Reuse one of the cap and PTT buttons from the double stick.     Hi JabSP6, I had looked at the standard Jabiru option,but as Frank Marriot pointed out they are really just 12V downlights. Also they are 50W each and according to Jabiru ,only one at a time can be lit, if you have two fitted. Would be nice to use the two landing lights together if you are caught out at Dusk, for the cost of purchase and install. JWW

    Eighty Knots, thank you for the video link. I have already purchase the "Crazed pilot" version of LED strobe/landing but not keen on these. The LED case is not very durable and they are not weather/water proof. Later I found there is an ebay seller selling similar product for fraction of the price. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Set-Car-22-LED-Flashing-Emergency-Strobe-Flash-Light-/400309664109?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3450b96d Water proof lighting is required, Sometimes we need to fly through a light shower or wash the plane without damaging the lighting/strobe systems. The Aeroleds look good, I will have a better look at their site.

    Hi folks, I own a J160 and have a question for actual Jabiru J160, J170 owners, Not Jabiru bashers. Im looking around for landing lights to have fitted that does not require cutting large holes in leading edges of wings. To keep power consumption down I was thinking about LED versions, as I have standard generator. Im looking around for value for money ,not $1000's of dollars just because they will be attached to a aircraft. Is there a decent set of landing lights with wig-wag that can be fitted to a "24" registered that wont effect certification? Does someone out there have some fitted so I can see how the look fitted?

    Welcome aboard Phillip, I had looked into buying and building a 50% kit from the Zenith dealer in Bendigo VIC. I did not have a garage so I gave in and bought a factory Jabiru j160. What state/region do you fly around?

    Blueline, My jabiru has microair radio that seems to work ok, but get static noise through the intercom while transponder is on . This can be worked out by turning the intercom volume up and down with the transponder running. Do you get static noise while transponder is on through the intercom in your Jabiru?

    Blueline, I own a J160 myself and curious. Was the original radio a "Micro air"? Also what transmit problem did you have?
