    I think those planes would not be easy in cross wind because you can not put the into wind wings down much as the lower one is already close to the ground.

    Don't think that will happen that was left cross wind and feet not working could happen to anybody.

    OK David or anyone can you tell me where the video is? For some reason I cannot find it.

    Yesterday was the first with the new whistles fitted the student could hear them during landing and he stated in his experience they do work on cars. No kangaroos collected but could not tell how much help the whistles were.

    As we know David based on what Turbo reckons every airstrip would have to be shutdown. I can say what he is saying usually does not happen planes hit roos all the time without the airfield operator being sued.

    Gee I will be in heaps of strife.

    In Supercheap Auto they had cheap whistles ($5.25) and dearer ones ($31.48) so I got one of each. When I blow in the cheap one there is no audible sound but the dearer one makes a high pitch squeal.

    I am fitting the cheap whistles to see if they make any difference. The air horns might piss off the neighbors, for my private use I probably could manage, I am not sure about training where we are doing a take off and landing about every 10 minutes.

    Yeah I was expecting this one I do have the fire power but did not want go that way. The Childers strip has become an issue as well.

    It is fenced but not for kangaroos.

    I have serious problem with kangaroos on airstrips, does anybody have a suggestion on how to get rid of them? I rang the Shu Roo people who told me their product does not work on aircraft.

    Yes well landing a twin in paddock, a bit tricky at the best of times let alone having some nut job trying to sabotage the whole thing, you would just about have to knock him out.

    Did you come down in the last shower of rain?

    Apparently there was a bit of excitement when it happened, there was no one around so he set off the ELB then choppers from neighboring properties started the search. The flying doctor got called and when the plane landed the wing clipped a tree so then another plane was dispatched to a neighboring property. When I talked to him he was in Port Hedland hospital but is out now.

    True but I am told that did not happen. There are some who need to go back to school and learn how to read.

    The only reason why I have mentioned the WA crash is because I thought it may help others to avoid the same situation. Not Jab bashing as has been insinuated.

    Yes the pilot was the only pax and he managed to make a safe crash landing, he got some stitches on his face but is OK. I don't think he is a local to the area.

    I am told the J230 was filled prior to take off, that it held 135 litres and burned 22 to 25 litres PH in cruise and it was just under 4 hrs of flight when the engine stopped. In the crash the wings were torn off by trees. One wing was laying flat on the ground and when dipped had a couple of inches of fuel showing. Do you know how to read?

    I was told it was fuel exhaustion with about 40 litres remaining in one tank.

    OK finally got permission to give details on the second prang The aircraft was E24-7758 and the incident happened in Gascoyne Junction last Sunday. This aircraft had major modifications carried out on it. From memory it was a J 230 with a 120 HP Lycoming or Continental fitted. The pilot said it is a write off but he may not know how good the factory is at repairing smashed aircraft.
