  1. Looking for Jabiru engine prices. Could only find in the US. 4 cylinder $22,000 ( $43,000 AUD?) and for the 6? got to be around $56,000 AUD That's not peanuts! But, saying that, I got charged $163 dollars per hour at a franchised repair shop for fitting rear rotors on a car. $163 per hour! ridiculous price. When I started work I got $3 per week for 44 hours. The world has gone mad.
  2. Engine question. Does anybody know the coolant flow rate in a Rotax 912? answer in ltrs per minute please ?. It's to do with under/over cooling in and experimental situation.
  3. Interesting comment! MY aircraft does not give a shit if the alternator or reg/rec goes belly up. The engine will happily churn out full power for as long as I have fuel.....As do most others I believe.
  4. I had sent one away to Bundaberg a couple of weeks ago. Came back yesterday, Looking like new, fantastic. Jabiru did a lovely job. No freight costs to my door either. Well done. The customer has to swallow about 2 large for the job. But Hey. There's a new crank in it. Big Plus to Jabiru
  5. Yes you are quite right. THe number I had read I confused with the Hornet. It was the similarity to the Hornet and the beautiful design that caught my attention
  6. That was published in the book. The Hornet was not mentioned! "1945 Aircraft of the fighting powers"
  7. Someone gave me several volumes "Aircraft of the Fighting Powers" 1944 1945 and 1946. Incredible pictures of some not so well known aircraft. The Westland Whirlwind was a beauty hampered by engine development. This aircraft however was listed as the fastest prop aircraft of the war at 485mph. Single seat I've rarely seen such a lovely design. The high aspect ratio wings also a feature.
  8. Trying really hard to finish my J160c/912uls. I've been on an experimental/ developmental C of A for 2 years. The third year is coming up for renewal ( if that's possible) . What I seek is for anyone that has a similar aircraft config to drop me a message Any model Jabiru any model Rotax. I need a little information that only you can supply. Cheers , Geoff 0400863623
  9. Hindsight , sweet.
  10. I believe they do replace your crank with a new one. But its up to you to get the engine to them. I am quite pleased with their response to a nasty problem. I have 3 customers waiting to send their engines.
  11. My is Type certified. But any 24-reg C of A will be informative
  12. Coming up to the end of my second year flying the Jab 160 / Rotax. 100 hours almost..... Not a single issue so far.... Took me a while to learn to land sweetly but ok now. Cruises at anything up to 105 knots (no spats , sadly) 18-20 ltrs per hour, climbs nicely at 70 knots 1000-1200fpm , 1500fpm if you really want it. Can easily climb to 6000 feet at 1000fpm no overheating. My main problem is that I'm still flying on a Temporary Experimental R&D C of A. I would really like to move on from that. If anybody reads this that has a similar aircraft please contact me re: C of A registration details. Or perhaps knows of someone that flies a Jab/Rotax (any model) . I need to see under what section their C of A lies. That will help me move forward. . Thanks again Geoff 0400863623
  13. Yes you are right its Darren's baby. part of his MARAP program ..BUT BEWARE not all aircraft are able to be changed to E reg. You have to check and see if your 'plane is TYPE CERTIFIED. if so its not possible, under any cicumstances (ask me how I know ) it MAY be possible to get a MARAP to have the engine go "on condition" but dont hold your breath.
