Putting an aircraft online

I have a questions for the people with plenty of planes (most notably Ian ;)).

 

I am interested in finding out what are the pro's and con's of putting a plane online i.e. still us it for private hire when it is not being used but available for private hire to students through a training school.

 

What does it cost (rough idea)? Is it financially viable? What are the pitfalls? What about financing and insurances? Considering also that I lack the skills to maintain it, obviously maintenance needs to be done by somebody that will expect payment.

 

Your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.
