New book to read

bought a copy of Peter Fitzsimons' new book ' Charles Kingsford Smith and Those Magnificent Men' today. might take a few days to get through it tho, looks like it is well researched and will be a good read.

Yep, nearly finished it... well written and well researched... Its not just about smithy but more like a story so far of aviation, in australia and around the world.. I didnt realise aussies had such a huge role in the development of the aircraft, and airlines..

i think the main reason Aussies did so well is that when other nationalities where busy fighting over the fame our talent was getting on with it and ignoring all the BS.

 

We were and would still be leaders in the industry/sport/development of aviation if not for peckerhead pollies and rule makers. Like they say if you can't do it, hinder it.

The reason you didn't realise that Aussies had so much to do with early aviation is because the Yanks write all the history books and if a Yank didn't do it, it doesn't get mentioned.
