Very interesting read, just goes to show what really goes on outside the high fence of the USA!

Also it's a warning about how some operators view aircraft maintenance. (As far as an accountant can see, maintenance is a drain on profits). Maybe the passengers were protected because they were travelling to Mecca.

 

Reading between the lines, it appears that good old USA is not above corruption any more than the African owner of the Jumbo. He only served a couple of months of his rather light four year sentence in USA.

Thanks for sharing this NP. It is an interesting read. It is interesting that this dilapidated (or rather, maintenance-neglected) aircraft was allowed to the CHOGM in the United Kingdom.

"four months house arrest in a Florida mansion" ...this sounds like heavy punishment befitting the crime!

We all know that a millionaire criminal  never deserves punishment as much as a poor criminal......

 

At least that's how it works out in the real world.
