They must have had rocks in their heads sending those Italian Fiat biplanes to tangle with Hurricanes and Spitfires in daylight ? . . perhaps Goering wanted them out of the way and this was his idea. . .

 

Putting aside their politics, the Daily Mail do some really good historical articles occasionally, Full marks for that one. Really high quality photography too. It's amazing to see how much destruction was caused by aircraft and parts thereof falling onto urban areas. . . most stories / reports about the 'Blitz' seem to have missed a lot of that out.

 

I remember the 'Time Team' prog about digging up the Hurricane wreckage from under a London pavement. Most interesting. Also well detailed even down the names of the German aircrews too. . . bloody good, very well researched journalism !
