On doing a bit more research on the corvair engine it seems they not all that durable compared with the purpose built aircraft engines [but that's to be expected as they are half the price]. If you want to do snap rolls or other maneuvers which subjects the crank to such loads watch out!!!!!! so it's back to the drawing board. The Jabiru 3300 or Rotax 912uls is starting to look good especially if you get caught out in heavy turbulence.Cheers
