They're looking at no safety lighting on the crane.!! Personally I think pilot error. With 18 years experience he should have known not to fly in fog.

This might be another example of a commercial pilot getting pulled into a dangerous situation to keep his job. Turns up to do the lift, the guy who is supposed to turn on the crane lights is sick or something, fog is hanging around, and the bosses are counting costs as every minute goes by. If you don't go up, another pilot probably will.
