Flight Training in Melbourne

Hi All,

 

I have to go to Melbourne for ATC assessment day on 24th Jan. Since I have to be in Canberra on the 26th thought I might make the most of the trip and spend the 25th flying. Does anyone know if there are schools either in Canberra or Melbourne where I could get checked out in a Tecnam then take it for a trot? Or does anyone have any other suggestions on how I could spend my time flying?

Best bet is probably an airfield like Lillydale, I think they have a Tecnam available.

Hi Shags,

 

Coldstream airfield has a Teccie Echo Super. Lilydale airport only has Jab 160s. Both of these airports are on the NE edge of Melbourne near the Yarra valley. I've never flown there, but I would bet it would be beautiful scenery around the Yarra valley.

 

There are no Canberra RAAus airfields. Closest I think are Goulburn or Tumut.

Dick Gower is CFI at Coldstream and has more than 12000 hours instructing in both GA and RA aircraft.

I think it's cross hired to the school... well that's what I was told a while back when I dropped the owner to a Motel for the night as he was ferrying it down. Nice blue one.

 

Someone know about it? It would be a great little machine to get checked out on - they are nice to fly.
