J3300 Fuel pump

Has anybody had an oil leak at the gaskets and spacer on the mechanical fuel pump and determined the cause. Mine has a leak that is getting worse and I suspect the spacer has distorted or cracked.

Yep, common,

 

Gaskets shrink up,but mine leaked a bit from new

 

2 issues are

 

1. some have bolts slightly too long which bottom out - check this out before overtightning.

 

2. replace gaskets x 2 and use good loctite or similar suitable for oil, the problem lies in that the pump sits accross the join in the block and sump which dont match very well. Addittionally the gasket isnt very wide here and leaks easily

 

Also as you said if it is overtightened the spacer could crack Id guess

 

I had a few goes and fixed it in the end.
