Mandatory EPIRB

Does anyone know when the date is when it is mandatory to have a epirb if flying beyond a distance from departure of 50 nautical miles. I was thinking of doing a navex that would put me outside the 50 mile radius and wasn't if the ruling was in place yet.

There is no date published for when they will be mandatory - standby for all the posts telling you to just buy one

The date they will become mandatory is the date at which CASR Part 103 is promulgated.

 

Sorry, this isn't a date, but it ties it to an event that is still an undefined time in the future.
